Finally put it to use today and it's super comfortable in the hand and holds a full steeping from a 120 ml gaiwan which is a nice change from the smaller cups that typically come with sets. It's hefty in the way that quality should be but not so much it's off-putting to use. The leaf inlay looks very pretty through this Moonlight White tea. Loved it so much went back and bought another one (different, of course!).

    Having several "very Japanese" souvenirs from 3 trips over the years, I must say the cup itself, as well as the packaging/ presentation are as Japanese as you can get! Brings back memories of my trips every time I use it.
    My photo does not include the cup, but it is one of my all time favorite travel photos, this one capturing a monk sweeping Sakura blossoms that had fallen in an overnight snowfall.

I like the slight lip around the edge - making it easier to drink from - and the transition from smooth glazed surface to rough bottom adds to the feeling of the cup. I expect to buy more for gifts.
