product description

Yunnan Pu-erh Tea

Pu’er tea is available in both loose-leaf and compressed forms. It is produced in Yunnan Province from large-leaf tea material that has been sun-dried, and fermentation is the key step that gives the tea its character. In the traditional style, some Pu’er was naturally fermented over time, with storage itself treated as part of the making process. Modern Pu’er also covers both artificially fermented teas and naturally fermented teas.

Because of this layered production, Pu’er is often appreciated not only for immediate drinking, but also for how it can evolve with age. A brief rinse before brewing is commonly used for compressed tea, helping the leaves open more evenly and allowing the aroma to emerge step by step. It is especially enjoyable in a gaiwan or a small clay pot, and it suits quiet afternoons, tea gatherings, or gift-giving for anyone who values aged tea.

Teacake

Pressed into a cake, the tea shows a relaxed yet balanced shape: it is round, orderly, sturdy, and visually complete. The body looks even throughout, the veins are clearly defined, and the press feels firm without appearing rough. Bud tips rise only slightly, while the tender bud heads carry a delicate golden tint.

Tea soup

In the cup, the liquor looks creamy in tone yet still clear, with no visible impurities. The sip feels smooth and refined from the start, and a mature Chen fragrance continues to unfold after swallowing. The finish remains pleasantly long in the cup, leaving a lingering aroma that is easy to remember.

If you want to bring out more depth, try a quick rinse followed by short infusions so the tea can open gradually. This style is also well suited to a gaiwan or a compact teapot, where the fragrance, texture, and aftertaste can be followed cup after cup.

Leaf bottom

Once the leaves meet hot water, they come back to life and slowly unfurl, showing lively movement as they open. The spent leaves settle into a dark brown color, which reflects a moderate level of fermentation. Their appearance after brewing can be used to appreciate the tea’s evenness, vitality, and overall processing quality.
